read ourFrequently asked questions
If you have any questions about yoga or Yes To Yoga’s offerings, this page should help. However, if these have not answered all your questions, please get in touch with Helen here who’ll be happy to help.
Who can practise yoga?
Yoga is for everyone! Plus, with Yes To Yoga, you work at your own pace and we ensure you feel comfortable throughout your yoga session.
Helen would be happy to talk you through yoga in greater detail, if you still have concerns. Simply get in touch here to discover why yoga is right for you.
How often should I practise yoga?
This is entirely your decision but I would recommend you attend a class once or twice a week and do home practice as and when you can. Aim to practise yoga in total 3 to 4 times a week.
Do I have to be flexible or fit to practise yoga?
No, not at all. You will find with regular practice you’ll naturally improve your flexibility and fitness. Besides, we all have to start somewhere, so just come along and start your yoga journey today.
How long should I wait to practice yoga after I have eaten?
It is best to wait 2-3 hours after a meal before you practice yoga, and 1 hour after a snack such as a piece of fruit. This allows the body time to digest the food before you practice.
I have a medical problem; can I still attend yoga classes?
Yoga is often used to relieve physical pain, however please mention any medical problems you may have in advance of your yoga lesson. For example, please tell us if you suffer from back pain, high/low blood pressure, joint problems etc. It is also important to let Helen know if you are pregnant. If you are, Helen will book you into her prenatal yoga classes.
Is yoga good for weight loss?
Yes, yoga can help you lose weight. You should practise yoga at least 3 times a week to achieve this. By just being made more aware of your posture you can add height and slim down your figure.
Is Yes To Yoga suitable for beginners?
It most certainly is. Just remember to relax, enjoy and most of all have fun.
What do I bring to a yoga class?
There are limited yoga mats available so if possible please bring your own. You may find that two blocks and a belt may help in certain postures but these will be provided.
Remember to wear comfortable, non-restrictive clothes and if it’s cold perhaps some non-slip yoga socks. The only other items you require are your body and your mind.
